Senior Communications Manager

As the Senior Communications Manager for SI2, Katie is the point person, strategist and executor for all of the organization’s communications and media outreach efforts. In this role, she works closely with stakeholders, partners, and SEIA to promote projects that SI2 is engaged in to advance solar and storage research and education.

Before joining SI2, Katie led communications and media relations for the government relations, climate change, and renewable energy portfolios at the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) and Defenders of Wildlife.

Katie also has five years of experience serving as the Senior Communications Lead for the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy’s Communications team, at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Here she provided communications leadership and support for  DOE’s Technologies Offices, to include the Solar Energy Technologies Office.

Katie holds a bachelor’s degree from Radford University and lives in Northern Virginia with her husband, son, and their two furry sidekicks: Heidi (dog) and Brewer (cat).

Charlotte has a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health from the University of Rochester and is pursuing a Master of Public Health from George Washington University in Environmental Health Science and Policy.

She was previously an intern at SEIA where she provided research support regarding solar energy reliability, specifically relating to inverter-based resources. Her research interests include the intersections between climate change, green energy transitions and public health.
