SI2 Celebrates One Year Anniversary with Interconnection Reforms Project Launch

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the Solar and Storage Industries Institute (SI2) announced the launch of a new one-year project on large-scale interconnection reforms. Founded last May, SI2 is dedicated to accelerating the adoption of clean energy through research, public education initiatives, and policy analysis.

“As we celebrate our first year of progress, we are thrilled to launch a new interconnection reforms project that will drive the solar and storage industry toward a brighter future,” said David Gahl, Executive Director of the Solar and Storage Industries Institute. “In our inaugural year, we have built a strong foundation to address the diverse challenges the industry faces. This project will develop and advance game-changing interconnection reforms that will help us build a clean energy landscape that works for all.”

This one-year project on large-scale interconnection will help develop interconnection reform recommendations for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and Regional Transmission Organizations.

“The Solar and Storage Industries Institute is breaking down barriers, fostering innovation, and building a stronger and more resilient clean energy economy,” said Abigail Ross Hopper, President and CEO of SEIA and Board Chair of SI2. “SI2 is shepherding in a new era of opportunity and progress for solar and storage, which has more momentum than ever before. SI2’s value and commitment to the growth of the industry are evident in its accomplishments over the past year, and we look forward to the important work that lies ahead.”

Over the past year, SI2 has worked to address some of the most pressing challenges facing the solar and storage industry, such as land use concerns, interconnection roadblocks, antiquated rate designs, and developing the workforce to build the clean energy future economy.
