National energy leaders, Dr. Becca Jones-Albertus and former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty, join accomplished board to help guide SI2’s growing research, workforce, and industry initiatives.

Today, the Solar and Storage Industries Institute (SI2) announced the appointments of Dr. Becca Jones-Albertus, vice president of strategic development and innovation at Exelon, and Tim Pawlenty, former Minnesota Governor and president and CEO of the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), to its board of directors.

Their appointments come as SI2 expands its national research initiatives to address the evolving needs of the solar and storage industries. Jones-Albertus and Pawlenty bring decades of experience in energy innovation, public policy, manufacturing, workforce development, and industry leadership that will help guide SI2’s strategic priorities and long-term impact.

Jones-Albertus previously led the U.S. Department of Energy’s Solar Energy Technologies Office, where she advanced research and technology development, strengthened domestic manufacturing and supply chains, and fostered public-private partnerships to accelerate solar deployment nationwide. She also served as acting deputy assistant secretary for the U.S. Department of Energy.  Currently, Jones-Albertus serves as vice president of strategic development and innovation at Exelon.

As president and CEO of SEIA, Pawlenty brings extensive experience in public policy, and economic development and has championed some of the nation’s most forward-looking renewable energy initiatives. He also previously served as president and CEO of the Financial Services Roundtable, advancing policies to strengthen the U.S. financial system.

” I am thrilled to welcome Dr. Jones-Albertus and Governor Pawlenty to the board, during such an exciting time where the organization is entering a new phase of growth,” said SI2 Board Chair Scott Moskowitz of Qcells. “Their strategic experience and leadership, combined with the expertise of our outstanding board of directors strengthens SI2’s ability to deliver meaningful research that supports the solar and storage industries during a pivotal time in the energy landscape.”

“SI2 was established to help solve some of the most important challenges facing the solar and storage industries through credible research, analysis, and education initiatives” said David Gahl, executive director of the Solar and Storage Industries Institute. “I am incredibly proud of the board we have established at SI2. Dr. Jones-Albertus and Governor Pawlenty bring deep expertise to the board and they understand both the opportunities and challenges ahead. We look forward to working with them to guide the organization’s work in the coming years.”

“I’m honored for the opportunity to join SI2’s board of directors,” said Becca Jones-Albertus. “I am excited to support its mission to advance rigorous research and analysis that informs the continued growth of the solar and storage industries, during such a pivotal time in an evolving energy landscape.”

“I’m honored to join SI2’s board at a time when rigorous research and credible analysis are more important than ever,” said Tim Pawlenty. “As America works to meet growing energy demand, the solar and storage industry is delivering affordable, reliable, and secure energy solutions. SI2 plays a vital role by providing research and insights that help policymakers, businesses, and other stakeholders make informed decisions. I look forward to helping expand the organization’s impact in the years ahead.”
